The Burleigh Road Historical Society was formed in 2000. The purpose of the group is: to collect, and preserve material and historical records in the former townships of Burleigh, Anstruther and Chandos, now known as North Kawartha Township.

Accomplishments
- Working to have the Main Street in Apsley named Burleigh Street.
- Working with Trent Valley Archives and the Laverys to publish “Up the Burleigh Road”
- Locating the historical and current churches, cemeteries and schools on a township map for public display
The Historical Society meets the first Monday of each month at 1 pm in the North Kawartha Public Library Boardroom. Yearly membership is $5.00. Some meeting dates will change due to holiday weekends. For current dates and times see the Calendar of Events.
To access the collection for research you need to call ahead to book an appointment with a member of the historical society.
